Hey, wanna join our team?

Hey there pal.

Most of what makes Short Sleeves special comes down to the people who work here.

We’re building a team of thoughtful, dependable people who care about coffee, hospitality, and doing things well.

Working here means being around people who want to get better. Better at coffee. Better at taking care of guests. Better at communication. Better at noticing the little things that make a shop run well.

We care a lot about training, feedback, responsibility, and giving people room to grow as they’re ready for it.

You don’t need to show up knowing everything about coffee.

You do need to care.

Care about the person standing in front of you. Care whether the drink you hand them is actually good. Care whether your station is ready for the next person. Care whether the person working beside you is having a rough shift.

If you’re curious, kind, dependable, and you like getting really good at things, there’s probably a place for you here.

DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT COFFEE?

That’s completely fine.

We built a pretty serious training program so you don’t have to walk in already knowing how to be a barista.

Every new barista goes through our Coffee School: four hands-on training sessions covering espresso, milk, brewing, coffee knowledge, drink building, palate development, and how we do things around here.

At the end, you’ll take what we call THE BAR Exam.

Which sounds scarier than it is.

It’s really just our way of making sure you feel confident behind the bar and that we’ve done our job teaching you well.

ALREADY KNOW COFFEE?

Awesome.

Short Sleeves can be a pretty fun playground.

Once you’ve completed the initial training, there’s plenty more to dig into: advanced bar skills, coffee tasting, brewing, espresso, roasting, and whatever areas you’re especially interested in getting better at.

Baristas can continue working toward BAR LEVEL II and other individual goals as they grow.

We don’t really think training should end once somebody learns where all the buttons are.

KEEP GETTING BETTER

Every staff member also gets three one-on-one meetings each year with their manager.

They’re time set aside to talk about how work is going, what you want to improve, what you’re interested in learning, and where you might want to grow next.

Sometimes that means becoming a better barista.

Sometimes it means developing better hospitality skills.

Sometimes it means learning a completely different part of the business.

Whatever. This is just our way of making sure you get check in's regularly.
