Blanket Town Winter Blend

At one point, Swannanoa was the blanket manufacturing capital of the world. Thousands were employed at Beacon Blankets, and as such, the entire Beacon Village neighborhood of homes and storefronts were built around it. Following its closing, and then fire in 2003, the landscape of the town changed drastically. “Blanket Town” was seemingly forgotten.

In recent years, some momentum returned to Swannanoa, only to be abruptly stopped by Hurricane Helene while the whole world watched. While this isn’t how we wanted it to happen, the world knows about our town now. 

We wanted to make a blend that would signify the highs and lows of Swannanoa; in its history, as well as its literal landscape of mountain peaks and a valley low river.

We’ve found two coffees to put together to do this. The first is a Natural Process Brazilian Coffee roasted medium-dark, which gives us some bold, dark, low tones…paired with a Washed Process Colombian coffee which is roasted lightly, to pull out sweetness and high notes. 

This creates a really interesting cup of coffee, which in the end, has some great highs, and some deep lows, but altogether feels beautifully well-rounded, and comforting. Like our Blanket Town. 

As you drink this coffee, your first taste is something heavy and dark, but the lingering taste you’ll have is something light and sweet. We hope that reminds you of our town's story. There’s some heaviness in our history, but we’re never without a light of hope.
